Who is Coach Nicole?
I am based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and have been coaching endurance athletes since 2008. I have worked with athletes from around the world, preparing them to succeed in everything from local 5ks to ultra-endurance events. I coach triathletes, runners, and endurance cyclists. I mix up my own endurance training to gain experience in different events.
I’ve competed in sprint, Olympic, half and full-ironman triathlons, road running races from 5k to the marathon, and have done a handful of mountain bike races. I really enjoy being out on my road bike. More recently I’ve been doing trail running events, as well as 75-100mile road cycling events. I maintain coaching certifications from USA Triathlon and USA Cycling.
Main Services
My main service is custom coaching, where I provide a training plan specific to your abilities, goals, and schedule. My most common plan is a monthly plan, where I update your plan each month based on your progress and feedback from the previous month. If you need even more interaction or have a schedule that is highly variable, I also offer custom coaching with a weekly updated plan. Both monthly and weekly plans include data analysis (power, pace, hr, etc) and of course, all the necessary communication to help you reach your goals. All coaching is done “virtually” through online platforms. [Price range: $250-$500/month]
For those who may be budget limited, I also offer custom training plans in 8-12 week blocks. These are built upfront after an initial consultation, but no data analysis is included. [Price range: $30-$40 per week of the plan.]
If you just need someone to bounce ideas off for your own training, I provide consultation calls as well. [Rate: $100/hr in 30 minute increments]
Additional Services
I provide the following physiological testing: lactate threshold testing (via blood lactate measurements) for running and cycling, and muscle oxygen testing (via Moxy monitor). These are great tools to make sure you are training at proper intensities. [Price range: $175-$225]
Tools I use to coach:
The online platform I use is TrainingPeaks.com. Athletes at a minimum should have a heart rate monitor and some kind of pace tracking device (e.g., Garmin watch, or phone app). Most of the common devices are compatible with TrainingPeaks. Preferred for cyclists is a power meter (visit Power Meter City if you need to learn more). For runners, if you are interested in running with power, check out Stryd
My coaching style:
My coaching style is a “mixed methods” approach. The data is important for measuring progress, but so is your feedback on how the workouts went and how you are feeling. Coaching with me works best when you collect some data for me and leave me a few comments, especially on the key workouts.
How to get started:
Contact me and we’ll set up a time to chat about your goals to see if it is a good fit for the both of us.
