Team NEO Athlete Update

I usually keep the blog to topics of general interest, but today I would like to give a shout out to some of my Team NEO athletes who have started their race season.

Charles is a first year road cyclist and decided to enter the race scene. A lot of people just ride for fitness their first year, and then maybe try a century. And how many cyclists never even race? But Charles is jumping into crits, TTs, and road races this year. He’s learning a lot and I look forward to watching him grow as a cyclist.

Michele is a triathlete who decided to take the plunge and complete an Ironman race this year. But since that race isn’t until the end of the year (Arizona) we’ve got a bit of time to prepare. She’s hopped into a few running races these last few weeks and chopped some good time off her PRs. Consistency pays.

Nate is also a triathlete who will be racing an Ironman later this year (Wisconsin) but wanted to knock a marathon out of the park first. So he did. He PRd a half-marathon earlier in the year and did the same last weekend with the Fargo Marathon.

Pat is another cyclist who focuses on ultra-endurance events. Her key race for the year is the 24 hours of Le Mans – the cycling version. (Pat lives in France, so it’s easy for her to get to this one!) She’s got some fun events in between and had some good successes in shorter road races, and she’s also venturing into the mountain bike scene and has included a 24 hour mountain bike race this summer.

Rodney is showing his races who is boss this year. He’s had some good successes with running races and REV3 Knoxville Olympic, and is getting ready to make the trek from Canada to Kansas for the 70.3 next month. There he will get to share a race course with a teammate and his coach. Rodney is also a TrainingPeaks Ambassador.

Khem had a great race at Lavaman and will also be riding the rollers of Kansas next month in the 70.3. Ironman Lake Tahoe is her target race this year. She is also a 2013 IRONMAN Foundation – Newton Running Ambassador.

Geoff is going to be testing out XTERRA racing, Carley and Chris will be doing the Pikes Peak Ascent (among other things), Craig is riding and running with a little triathlon thrown in there, and Claudia is tackling a half-marathon.

I’ve had some recent additions to the team, Ron from Illinois, who had a great showing at his first race last weekend, and Scott from Westminster, CO. Ron’s targeting the Olympic distance Age Group Nationals (Nate will be there, too), and Scott jumped right in and will be joining Michele and Sarah in Arizona in his first ironman distance race (in his first year of triathlon!)

Team NEO is made up of a diverse group of people – but they have one thing in common. They are dedicated to pushing their limits and seeing what they can accomplish in the realm of endurance sports. I am proud to be able to work with each and every one of them.
